[edit] General Information
The Chanrion Hut is a mountain hut located in the upper Val de Bagnes in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies in an isolated area south of Lac de Mauvoisin at an altitude of 2,462 m, at the foot of Pointe d'Otemma. The easiest access is from the north (road to Mauvoisin). The hut is owned by the Swiss Alpine Club and the wardens are Buémi Nicole and Buémi René (Tel: 0041 (0)27 783 13 83).
The Chanrion Hut is a famous stop for those that walk or ski the Haute Route, Chamonix-Zermatt. This Haute Route was first established on foot in 1861 by English mountaineers. There is a tremendous amount of very good information about routes and ascents on the official website of the hut.
