) is a mountain hut above Gressoney-la-Trinité and Alagna Valsésia in the Pennine Alps in Valle d'Aosta, Italy. The hut is situated near the top of the rock rib separating the E branch of the Lis Glacier and the Garstelet Glacier.

[edit] History

Built in 1876, rebuilt in 1907 and expanded in 1937. Current building was built in 1967 to celebrate the 100 year jubilee of the Varallo Sesia section of the CAI, which owns the hut.

[edit] Approach routes

Take the lift to Punta Indren. From the lift follow a marked trail NW on the Indren Glacier (used for skiing) until below a rock barrier separating this glacier from the Garstelet Glacier (just S of the Gnifetti Hut) and a fork in the trail. Take the R branch and climb the rock barrier on to the Garstelet Glacier. Walk up the uncrevassed glacier, before turning L to reach the hut.

Drive or take a buss to Staffal (or Staval) further up the valley and then use the lift system to the Passo dei Salati (via Alpe Gabiet). From the pass (2,936 m) follow the broad ridge N to Punta Indren. From there follow the route described above.
