[edit] General information
Riffelhorn peak forms part of the Gornergrat ridge.
It can be accessed easily from Zermatt by taking the Gornergrat Bahn/ train.
At the south side are the Gorner Glacier and one of the more famous mountains like:
Breithorn, Castor, Pollux and Liskamm.
Also the highest mountain of Switzerland, the Dufourspitze is visible more towards east.
At the west side is the Matterhorn mountain.
Riffelhorn has been used like a training ground over a years by the local Alpine guides.
Some of the reasons are the altitude and also the easy reach by train.
Views towards north are also good having mountains like Ober Gabelhorn and Weisshorn in distance.
Nearest train station is the Rotenboden station.
One can also eat in one of the restaurants in walking distance.
[edit] ROUTES
There a few routes on the peak.
Some having technical support, like fixed ropes.
The easiest route is the East ridge.
At the south side is the longest face, looking down to Gorner glacier.
