The Schweizer Alpen-Club (SAC) or Club Alpin Suisse (CAS) and its sections operate 153 huts with some 9500 beds in the Swiss Alps.

The SAC is the largest mountaineering club in Switzerland. It was founded in 1863 in Olten and it is now composed of 111 sections with 110 000 members (2006).

The Swiss Alpine Club is a member of the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA).
