| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Name of the hut or hotel. This field is required. Try to give the most 'English' name or the most international name. |
| Also known as | Local names of the hut or hotel. This might be useful for huts located on the border of two countries where both countries have their own name for the hut. If possible try to include the name and the language of the foreign name. |
| Photo | Photograph of the hut. Preferably a distance shot to show most of the surroundings. Do not include the "File:" prefix. Images bigger than 1600x1200px can cause the thumbnail generator to generate a blank image and you will have to upload another image that is smaller than 1600x1200px. |
| Caption | Description of the photograph which is displayed below. Try to name interesting summits or passes that are included on the picture. |
| Type | Type of the hut. This can be for example SAC or CAI but also Private Hut or Hotel. |
| Elevation | Maximum height of the hut above mean sea level. Use the following format: 8,888 m. The template will automatically convert the altitude. |
| Location | Country where the hut is located (use the template). For example: Switzerland is {{SUI}}, Italy {{ITA}} etc. |
| Location2 | Huts are often located on the border of countries or cantons/departments. The second country can be specified here. |
| Location_sub | Any useful subdivision of the country that is applicable (for example a state or a canton). For example: Valais |
| Location_sub2 | Huts are often located on the border of countries or cantons/departments. The second subdivision can be specified here. |
| Range | Mountain range if applicable. The specific range subgroup should be provided instead of any major mountain system unless there is no applicable subgroup. For example, use Teton Range and not Rocky Mountains or Bernese Alps not Alps. |
| Parent peak | In computation of prominence, peaks form a hierarchy: this is the parent of the peak in the hierarchy. Or the name of the surrounding massif. |
| latd | Latitude degrees. Can also be used for decimal degrees |
| latm | Latitude minutes. |
| lats | If known latitude seconds. |
| latNS | N for North; S for South. |
| longd | Longitude degrees. Can also be used for decimal degrees |
| longm | Longitude minutes. |
| longs | If known longitude seconds. |
| longEW | E for East; W for West. |
| Swissx and Swissy | The latitude and longitude of the summit using the SwissGrid System: Both the x and y coordinate. |
| Nearby Features | This list is automatically generated by comparing the DMS coordinates of the mountain with other subjects in Mount Wiki. Everything within 3km is listed alphabetically in the list. The list is generated by the Template:Get_Neighbours template. |
| Bases | A village, railway station, ski lift station... where you can start the approach to the hut or hotel. |
| Bases2,3,4... | A village, railway station, ski lift station... where you can start the approach to the hut or hotel. |
| Summits | A list of summits and passes that can be reached by starting in the hut or hotel, Ordered alphabetically. |
| Route | The easiest route to the hut. Some possibilities are: French grades (e.g. PD), rock climbing grades (e.g. 5.13a). |
| Topographic map | The name of the topographic map showing the mountain. In Switzerland the LSK map templates can be used for example {{1348}} will generate 1348 Zermatt. |
| Places | Number of available beds or matrasses. Can be just a number or more detailed specifying the number of beds and matrasses |
| Opening | Period that the hut or hotel is opened and guarded. A lot of huts in the European Alps are permanently guarded during the summer and partially during spring and fall and open but unguarded during winter. More detailed opening dates can be described in the article itself. |
| Food | Is there any food available in the hut? yes or no. |
| Drinks | Are there any drinks available in the hut? yes or no. |
| Phone | The international phone number to contact the hut or hotel. |
| The email address of the hut or the guardian of the hut. | |
| Website | The website address of the hut or hotel. |
| pushpin_map | The name of a location map as per Template:Location map (eg. Switzerland or Italy). The coordinate fields (eg. latd and longd) position a pushpin coordinate marker and label on the map automatically. Example see: Monte Rosa Hut |
| Q | The quality of the page. Choose between: Stub, Start, Good or Perfect according to the quality guidelines. |
