Hi thanks for your nice contributions. Nice Nadelgrat images! I saw you had some problems with certain files? The server allows max file size of 1600x1200pixels. Bigger files can be uploaded, but due to security settings no thumbnails can be created and no resizing can happen of very big images. I fixed al the existing images. The easiest is to resize your images before uploading them, this also saves bandwith for you and the users. -- Mount Wiki Admin
Ok, thanks --Arie Safari
[edit] Mountain subpages
Hi, I saw you were quite busy the last couple of days.
I can understand it is probably a bit confusing to organise the massive amount of mountains and huts in the massifs and submassifs.
What I did, and you can correct me if you have suggestions, is the following: I start at the lowest level, for example the Jungfrau Group. Then there is a subpage /huts /routes and /summits. Now you might wonder why making it complex? In Bernese Oberland, there can be a /hut /routes /summits page. Instead of putting it again there, the /summit page includes the content from 'Jungfrau Group/summits' etc. Now when there is a change, only the lowest level need to be changed.
Now this might seem a bit overdone at first sight, but this is important for large pages as instead of loading the whole Jungfrau page with all the text, summits, huts etc... Only the /summits page needs to be retrieved and included in the Bernese Oberland page. The same goes with the route pages. The /overview is a subpage on a page with a route and these pages are grouped on for example 'Jungfrau Group/routes'.
These (sub)pages are case sensitive btw, so watch out with group or Group, I try to make redirects from group to Group, but the easiest way is to use Group all the time to avoid confusion.
I understand it can be a bit complex, but in my opinion this is the way to avoid 'double information' as everything is retrieved from a lower level up to the big overview pages.
You might consider checking out the Mischabel page and you will see that everything is stored in subpages. You can also have a look at Valais Mountains where for example the Mischabel/summits page is loaded into the Valais Mountains page (I still need to change that page to Valais and move the summits to the /summit subpage).
If you have any question about this system or any other questions, feel free to contact me! (Nice to have aboard on the Mount Wiki ship ;-) )
